Getting Started
Get up and running with TrustMFT in a few minutes.
What is TrustMFT?
TrustMFT is a cloud-based managed file transfer platform that lets organisations securely exchange files with clients and partners. You can transfer files through the web portal using any browser, or via SFTP for automated or command-line transfers.
Logging In
Navigate to the TrustMFT portal and click Login. Enter your email address and password provided by your administrator.
If your organisation requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), you will be prompted to enter a one-time code from your authenticator app after your password.
On first login, you may be asked to set up MFA. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy) and enter the six-digit code to confirm.
Forgot your password? Use the Forgot Password link on the login page. A reset link will be sent to your email address.
Navigating the Portal
After logging in you will see the main dashboard. The left sidebar gives you access to:
- Dashboard — storage usage, recent activity, and quick stats
- Files — browse, upload, download, and manage files
- Activity — a history of your uploads, downloads, and other file actions
- SFTP — your SFTP connection details and credentials
- Shared Links — manage shareable download links you have created Pro
Administrators additionally see Users, Clients, Audit Logs, and other management sections.
Uploading Your First File
Click Files in the sidebar to go to the file manager.
Click Upload Files or drag and drop files directly onto the upload area.
Uploaded files are scanned for malware. They will show a Scanning status while being checked, then move to Ready once cleared.
File size limits: Free plan accounts can upload files up to 5 MB each, with 50 MB total storage per client. Pro plan raises these to 100 MB per file and 100 MB total per client. Files exceeding the limit will be rejected before upload begins.
Downloading Files
Select any Ready file and click the download icon to download it individually. To download multiple files at once, select them using the checkboxes and click Download as ZIP.
Connecting via SFTP
If you have SFTP access, click SFTP in the sidebar to see your connection details and registered SSH keys. You can connect using any standard SFTP client:
Host: sftp.trustmft.com
Port: 2222
Username: your SFTP username (shown on the SFTP page)
Auth: password or SSH key — check the SSH Keys card on your SFTP page
If your account requires SSH key authentication, the password form on the SFTP page will show a notice — connect using your private key file instead. See the SFTP Guide for step-by-step instructions for FileZilla, WinSCP, and other clients.
